Giving back to our community
PTA sponsors and supports many programs in our school that give back to our community.
Giving Basket Program: The holidays are a special time to share food and gifts with families and friends. It is also a time to share these with families who may be on a limited budget. The Giving Basket Program is a food drive intended to help Ruskin families in need. It begins after Thanksgiving break and runs for two weeks. During this time, families and staff members are encouraged to donate healthy, non-perishable food and drinks. Frozen turkeys and gift cards may also be donated.
Last year, our wonderful K-Kids and student leadership groups raised money to purchase gift cards which were included in our gift baskets. We also worked with the Marine Toys for Tots foundation in San Jose to obtain toys for our students. Our gift baskets are created with a lot of love and caring and contain a mix of food, gifts, and gift cards.
